Description: In today's interconnected world, lawyers and legal professionals are increasingly reliant on technology for their day-to-day work. However, this increased reliance on digital tools and data comes with a significant risk: the legal industry is a prime target for cyberattacks. The first course, "Cybersecurity for Lawyers - Yes, You Are a Target," is designed to equip legal professionals with the knowledge of common threat tactics and the skills needed to protect their sensitive information and clients' data from cyber threats.
As data breaches and privacy concerns continue to make headlines, the legal profession faces unprecedented challenges and opportunities when it comes to safeguarding sensitive client information. NYSBA Rules of Professional Conduct 1.6(c) requires that lawyers make reasonable efforts to protect a client’s confidential information. But what is reasonable concerning the protection of electronic data? The second course, "Data Protection for Lawyers - You Owe It to Your Client," is designed to equip legal professionals with the knowledge about protecting the confidentiality of client data and skills needed to maintain their ethical obligations.
