2019 Past Presidents' Dinner - November 20, 2019

DANY was pleased to provide this long-standing event at the elegant Down Town Association at 60 Pine Street in lower Manhattan (https://www.thedta.com/). This event honored DANY's Past Presidents for their fine leadership and contributions. There was an installation of the current DANY President, James P. O'Connor, and certain other Officers and Directors. This occasion began with a one hour CLE course at 5:30 p.m., titled 2019 Essential CPLR Updates, presented by David Paul Horowitz, Esq. of McNamara & Horowitz, as illustrated below. That was followed by a cocktail hour with Tuscan antipasto station at 6:30 p.m., and a banquet dinner at 7:30 p.m. More photos to come, and thanks for having participated! Link for the CLE materials:

2018 Past Presidents' Dinner

DANY was pleased to have provided this long-standing event in a new setting, i.e. Battery Gardens in lower Manhattan, on New York Harbor. While again recognizing its Past Presidents for their fine leadership and contributions, and offering a one hour CLE, DANY added two features this year: the installation of the current DANY President, Colin Morrissey, and certain other Officers and Directors, and the presentation of the John Moore Writing Award. The occasion began with a one hour CLE course, titled 2018 Essential CPLR Updates, presented by David Paul Horowitz, Esq. of McNamara & Horowitz. That was followed by a cocktail hour and a banquet dinner. Please see the photos below to get a sense of what went on. DANY as always thanks its members and guests for their attendance and support.

Thank you members, guests and sponsors for attending this annual event that honors DANY's past presidents.

DANY also expresses its appreciation to the presenters of the Ethics CLE, which involved two mock oral arguments. The CLE was presided over by Hon. Peter P. Sweeney of Supreme Court, Kings County. One oral argument addressed an insurance defense attorney dilemma: to report or not to report deposition testimony of an insured that would cause the carrier to exam. This was argued by Paul J. Callahan, Esq. of Brown & Kelly, LLP, and by Eileen E. Buholtz, Esq. of Connors, Corcoran & Buholtz, PLLC. The other oral argument addressed an insurer staff counsel dilemma: potential disqualification after having investigated a claim. This was argued by James M. Strauss, Esq. and Melissa A. Foti, Esq. of Kenney Shelton Liptak Nowak LLP.
