The Defense Association of New York is proud to announce that the annual 5K run has changed format this year!   For the first time, we will be having an in person 5K race on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the Hudson Valley Marathon at the Walkway Over the Hudson (don't worry - we are not running a marathon).  Proceeds from the race will benefit the Heavenly Harvest Foundation and the DANY Scholarship Fund.

DANY is working with Alpha Win to bring you the in person portion of the race at the iconic Walkway Over the Hudson on May 4, 2025. 

But don't worry, if you can't make it to the race in person on May 4, 2025, you can still participate virtually or make a donation to the DANY Scholarship Fund.

If you are participating virtually, you have until May 4, 2025 to complete a 5 kilometer (about 3.10 miles) run or walk.   You can run or walk anywhere you want, inside or outside, as long as you complete the distance.  You do not have to finish in one run or walk, or even in one day.  You just have to finish the total distance by May 4, 2025.

This race is open to anyone – DANY members, their family members, our sponsors, our sponsors’ family members, or anyone else who wants to sign up and get some exercise!  Invite your family and friends!  The race is open to all ages.

If you are running virtually, just make sure that you don’t run on any unsafe roads or areas that have been closed off to the public.  And please follow any other requirements set forth by any local, state or federal guidelines.  

If you want to submit any photographs of you or your family members participating in the 5k Run, we would love to receive them and will post them to our website after the race is over. 

Proceeds from the race will benefit the Heavenly Harvest Foundation and the DANY Scholarship Fund. If you don’t want to participate in the run or walk, but still want to make a donation , you can do that from the registration page too.

**By registering for the DANY 5K Run, you acknowledge that you are a willing participant in the event and fundraiser.  As part of this event you agree to assume all risks and to release and hold harmless DANY, its officers, employees, agents, sponsors, officials and volunteers, including event leaders. You agree to release and hold harmless, and you intend by this Waiver and Release to release, in advance, and to waive your rights and discharge all of the persons and entities mentioned above, from any and all claims for damages for death, personal injury or property damage which you may have, or which may hereafter occur to you as a result of your participation in the event. You understand and agree that this Waiver and Release is binding on your heirs and legal representatives. You understand that you are solely responsible for my health and safety, and you acknowledge that you are physically capable of participating in and completing this event. You hereby agree to allow DANY the use of your name and likeness (event photos, videos) for any purpose related to advertising or promotion of the event without obligation or liability to you. You have carefully read this Waiver and Release and fully understand its contents. If you are under the age of 18 years of age at the time of registration, your parent or legal guardian has completely reviewed this Waiver and Release, understands and consents to its terms, and authorizes your participation by registering you for this event.  You are aware that this is a RELEASE OF LIABILITY and a contract between you and the persons and entities mentioned above, and you agree to the same out of my own free will.   

If you are participating in person at the Walkway Over the Hudson, you will be required to sign an additional waiver when you pick up your race bib.
